The weather forecast is calling for snow on the last night of winter break. Will we get five inches of snow? With all the technology available, you might think it would be easy to answer that question, and you’d be wrong. Over the past few years, the weather people on all the news channels around here have promised inches and inches of snow and all we’ve gotten is light dustings!

Due to impeccable planning on my part, I walk to work, which means I don’t care too much about snow. I don’t have to drive in it. I do worry about the school buses. Over the past few years, it seems like people can’t be bothered to stop for buses filled with small children.
No matter how old you are, there is something magical about the first big snow. The snow muffles loud noises and brings a hush even to bustling suburban areas. For a short time, everything is covered in a blanket of white that sparkles in the sun. One of my previous New Year’s resolutions was to find the beauty in Winter. Sometimes I have to squint, but it is there.
